CFP: Remembering a Tricontinental Past: Narratives and Artefacts of Global Cold War Social Movements

Call for Papers for a special issue of Bandung: Journal of the Global South, titled "Remembering a Tricontinental Past: Narratives and Artefacts of Global Cold War Social Movements."

This Special Issue explores (re)iterations of tricontinentalism – solidarity and social movements based on the concept of a collective Latin American, Asian, and African identity. In particular, it deals with remnants of Cold War social movements that exist in present-day testimonies, documents, photos, political ephemera, and repertoires of contention. The objective is to bring to the surface those histories that are not typically taken up by the field of global or transnational history through the intersection of social movements and memories of Cold War tricontinentalism. The intention of this special issue is to highlight the particular forms and contents of transnational tricontinental activism and to initiate a dialogue on these topics between activists and researchers.

Deadline: mid-August 2022
